Sunset expands central distribution center
Sunset Healthcare Solutions expanded its central distribution center to a larger warehouse at 2725 Alft Lane in Elgin, Illinois. The new space adds approximately 20,000 square feet to Sunset operations, allowing for increased inventory and manufacturing capabilities, enhanced scalability and additional value-added services. Manufacturing efforts at the Elgin warehouse successfully kicked off last week.
The warehouse upgrade coincides with Sunset’s 20th anniversary this year.
“So many of us at Sunset have been working at the company for over a decade,” says Vice President of Business Development PJ Ruflin. “Seeing our growth, particularly with something as tangible as a warehouse upgrade, is exciting because it positions us to best serve our customers and industry well into the future. There’s also a genuine sense of pride in what we have built as a team over the years. We opened our first warehouse on a quiet corner of Chicago’s Northwest Side—from there, we’ve expanded to new, larger spaces and opened new distribution facilities across the country. It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come both as a company, and as individuals within the company, in terms of capabilities, expertise and offerings. I look forward to continuing this kind of progress along with the incredible people that make it all happen.”
“The move to the Elgin warehouse went exceptionally well,” says Sunset’s National Warehouse Operations Manager Jeff Emricson. “It was so awesome to see all the help from all teams out of the Bloomingdale location both Friday and Saturday. We ended up moving 32 semis full of product, tables and equipment in a matter of days with setup.”
“Gaining 20,000 square feet gives us the opportunity to grow our product line and possibly increase our stocking volume with some of our biggest selling products,” adds Emricson. “We are also looking for the opportunity to make the overall workflow in the warehouse more efficient. With the increased space there is the opportunity for future manufacturing and production opportunities as they come.”
