What is phototherapy and how does it work?
Phototherapy is the most common form of treatment for jaundice. The light is able to break down bilirubin close to the skin’s surface and is then excreted from the body. Because of this, it is extremely important that the maximum amount of an infant’s skin be exposed to the light.

Why do we use blue light?
Research has shown that light in the blue-green part of the white light spectrum is the most effective in breaking down bilirubin.
